Birds, birds, birds

I have been doing quite a bit of birdwatching since March when the waterfowl migration begins. I would say I have put at least 2000 miles on my car just birding since then (gas prices be damned!!) and have been out as far as South Dakota, MacGregor and St. Peter since my last post. Reward? I have 205 species for the year, only 3 short of my best ever total from last year and I've got 6 months to go! More later...BTW these are not my photos! I borrowed them from elsewhere. Thank-you to the creators of these fine shots of a Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Black-crowned Night Heron, Broad-winged Hawk

Hello Jim! It was a pleasure to meet you last weekend and thank you again for driving me and Taikei back to the hotel Sunday night. Taikei was already feeling very melancholy for his new and old friends in St. Paul.
You blog is a great addition for me to view as I love the outdoors and appreciate the patience it must demand to capture the images. I love the pictures of the birds. If you see the Bluebird of Happiness, please post a pic. After a windstorm this spring I discovered what I believe was an American Woodcock in the back yard. He was a bit off course. I look forward to exploring your blogs and site.-I enjoyed sharing time, rhubarb wine and conversation with you!-Katie
